Announced at a recent July conference, LG’s new Optimus line of phones is another foray into the Android market in an attempt to gain a larger market share. Varying in degrees of cost and hardware, the Optimus series is designed to give consumers a wider range of choices to fit their needs, rather than the one-phone-fits-all approach taken by other manufacturers. Optimus is currently expected to be available in early Q4 in the European and Korean markets with others to follow, though no official date or pricing is available yet, as LG has kept quiet about most of the details surrounding the Optimus. So far, LG has confirmed that it will be branded as the “Optimus One with Google” and will be tied closely into Google’s applications and services.
